Surat's Udhna Railway Station Becomes Western Railway's First Green Railway Station

In today's world, where pollution levels are rising and industrial areas are expanding, it is remarkable to see Surat's Udhna Railway Station emerge as Western Railway's first green railway station. This impressive achievement is a testament to the efforts of Gujarati entrepreneur Viral Desai. As Udhna leads the way in becoming the country's first green railway station, the journey doesn't end here. Alongside the green initiative, a “Martyrs' Memorial” has been established at the station to honor the soldiers martyred in Pulwama, with trees planted in their memory.

Udhna Railway Station's transformation into the country's first green railway station continues to progress. Currently, it stands as the only green railway station in the entire Western Zone. Visitors to the station experience a unique environment, surrounded by lush greenery, unlike any other railway station. Notably, Udhna Railway Station has become as green and pollution-free as Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Airport.

Given that one in eight deaths in the country is due to pollution, trees play a crucial role in increasing oxygen levels and reducing pollution. Hence, raising awareness about tree plantation is essential, and Udhna Station's transformation serves as an exemplary model.

Once a dingy and dirty place, Udhna Station has now become a green railway station. To enhance its green look, the station walls have been painted green, and inspiring paintings promoting environmental conservation and tree plantation have been created. Numerous slogans have been inscribed on the walls. The railway department is astonished by the station's complete green makeover and continues to encourage such commendable efforts.
