Chapter 1 | Diary of a Green Man

I believe that in spite of the current difficult situation, these are fun days to look at. Due to quarantine, we may have been locked at home, but our thoughts and imaginations have got an opportunity to flow freely…they have somehow got an open rein. It’s an in-between phase, where one can subtly look back a little and at the same time think about the future that extends beyond the horizon. Old memories can be rekindled by recalling everything that has passed in this time and if there are mistakes somewhere along that journey or we have left something incomplete, the future can be made more capable by correcting it.

Nowadays, due to a lot of time on hand for self-introspection, a lot of ideas come together. It occurs to the mind that what a miracle this life is and what circumstances form with us! The plans that we have made often remains the same while life takes us in a completely different direction by holding its finger. That is why the destiny we reach at the end of the journey not only gives us joy, but also gives us many surprises because we have never really dreamed about the kind of life we have got! Because we have thought differently about our lives!

I fondly remember the days when I was modelling. Yes, you may call me a Greenman, an Environmentalist or a Businessman today, but at one time I had only one dream and that dream was modelling! And the funny thing is that my looks and physique were so perfect for acting and modelling that even the people around me always encouraged me to go into the glamour industry.

Assuming that I was moving forward in the right direction, I would make many efforts in that direction and by the grace of God, I also got to work on a few assignments!

However, I had no idea that the young man who dreamed of modelling in the nineties would become a successful businessman in the 21st century or plant more than forty thousand trees by working in the field of environment. I wanted to build my career based on my appearance, but my destiny decided something else instead. It urged me to be open to other directions because of my intellectual brain and my innate ability to see beyond the horizons.

Now when I think about it, I am very surprised. The ups and downs I have seen in my life over the last twenty-five years are truly amazing. When I ponder about it, I keep remembering my Krishna. Because even though my destiny has brought me this far, I have always remembered one of Lord Krishna’s principles in my life, कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्तेमाफलेषुकदाचन। (This verse is from the Bhagawad Gita. It means “You have a right to perform your duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action.)

There are many other things I wish to pen down. Let’s see how much and what can be written now…
